Day Three Here at New Horizons, Waltham
Yesterday went very well also. The staff here are very knowledgeable and helpful to us new students. Today I completed the Intro to Programming Course.
It was very interesting to learn about the 'Unified Modeling Language'. I look forward to using and learning more about it. From my experience with website development this tool would have been very helpful for the projects I was involved with. In the future I hope to incorporate this important application tool into my repertoire. I think discovery is the most important developmental phase of a good application. If not properly discovered some ugly elements can come into a project, such as scope creep and under-stated resource allocation. These two elements alone can cause problems on both the developer side and the client side. Most times one of these two parties will have to absorb costs caused by the addition resources needed to complete the application. UML and Use Case Diagrams can really go a long way to a thorough and accurate Development Phase. Effective and meaningful communication between the Business Analyst and the client application users is a foundational element to a successful on-budget project. Tomorrow I will write about building an effective 'User Interface'.
Next week I begin a course in learning about Programming with Microsoft C#. The couse will be what New Horizons calls an 'On-Line Live' session where an instruction in another location leads a class virtually. The class will be an intense 5-day session.
